Harriet Connides is a multidisciplinary artist and writer whose work spans fine art, decorative design, and creative writing. She studied Fine Art (Painting) at the Canterbury College of Art, where her talent was recognised early on; her work was selected for the Kent Institute archive as a marker of student excellence.
Her artistic journey has taken many forms, from painting and drawing to experimental decorative objects. Harriet’s papier-mâché wall hangings and jewellery have found their way into some of the UK’s most respected cultural spaces, including the V&A Museum Shop, the Friends Room at the V&A Museum, Canterbury Cathedral, The Vivian Gallery, Burgh House, The Phoenix Cinema, The Obsidian Gallery, and the Arts Depot. Her jewellery and wall hangings were also celebrated in the exhibition Why Waste It When You Can Wear It?, which explored creativity through sustainable design.
In 2009, Harriet was one of only twelve artists worldwide chosen to contribute to Wombrose, a unique project that invited artists to design a virtual stained-glass window, a testament to her imaginative vision and international recognition.
Alongside her visual practice, Harriet is also an accomplished writer. She has published short stories with The Ghost Club of Great Britain, been shortlisted in the First Chapter Competition at the Penfro Literary Festival (2016), and in the Creative Writing Ink Short Story Competition (2023). Most recently, her work appeared in Personal Ghost Stories, edited by H.E. Bulstrode (2024).
