2. Our Values

Every Artist represents not only their own work but also the wider Art is Lit community.

We ask all Artists to uphold the following values:

  • Creativity
  • Originality
  • Honesty

  • Respect
  • Transparency
  • Fairness
  • Accountability

These values underpin every interaction between Artists, Buyers and Art is Lit.

3. Original Artwork

Artists must only sell Artwork that they have created themselves or that they have the legal right to sell.

Artists must not:

  • copy another Artist’s work;
  • sell counterfeit Artwork;
  • knowingly infringe copyright;
  • falsely claim ownership;
  • misrepresent reproductions as originals.

Where requested, Artists should be able to provide reasonable evidence of authorship or ownership.

4. Honest Product Listings

Buyers rely on Product Listings to make informed purchasing decisions.

Artists should ensure that every listing is accurate, honest and complete.

Listings should clearly describe:

  • dimensions;
  • materials;
  • colours;
  • framing (where applicable);
  • edition size;
  • production method;
  • processing time;
  • shipping information;
  • any known imperfections.

Photographs should accurately represent the Artwork being sold.

Artists must not use misleading descriptions or manipulated images that could deceive Buyers.

Art is Lit supports innovation while promoting transparency.

If artificial intelligence has been used in creating Artwork, Artists must clearly disclose whether the Artwork is:

  • traditionally created;
  • digitally created;
  • AI-assisted; or
  • fully AI-generated.

Artists remain responsible for ensuring that AI-generated content complies with copyright law and does not infringe the rights of others.

  • provide accurate tracking information;
  • inform Buyers of significant delays.

Where circumstances beyond an Artist’s control affect an order, the Artist should communicate with the Buyer as soon as reasonably possible.

8. Respect for Buyers

Artists should treat every Buyer fairly and respectfully.

Artists should never:

  • discriminate against Buyers;
  • pressure Buyers into leaving positive reviews;
  • retaliate against negative feedback;
  • make misleading promises;
  • attempt to avoid Platform Policies.

Every Buyer deserves honest information, courteous communication and professional service.

  • design rights;
  • patents;
  • other intellectual property rights.

Artists should promptly respond to legitimate copyright enquiries from Art is Lit.

11. Marketplace Integrity

Artists must never engage in conduct that undermines trust in the marketplace.

This includes:

  • fake sales;
  • review manipulation;
  • misleading pricing;
  • false discounts;
  • identity fraud;
  • payment fraud;
  • attempting to bypass the Platform’s payment system;
  • encouraging Buyers to complete purchases outside Art is Lit.

Maintaining marketplace integrity protects every member of our community.
